JOY STEUERWALD’s life has always included pencils and collecting children’s books, so winning her first art contest in 3rd grade just sealed her fate; she was destined to be an illustrator. Joy graduated from San Jose State’s animation and illustration program with a Bachelor of Science Degree and has created art for the educational market, the giftware industry, and children’s book publishing. Under the influence of coffee, Joy sketches in pencil then uses Photoshop to add textures, details and color to create art that is playful, bright, and fresh. Her muse is a miniature, short-haired, red Dachshund who in the last few years has been joined by a small, human boy. Joy also lives with a very-patient husband and a black tuxedo cat in the Bay Area where they hope for rain.
